Verily, Verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. – Jesus of Nazareth, John 3:5
How to Get Closer to God
Did you know that both spouses are employed in 62% of married couples ? Being involved in all aspects of the developmental stages of your child’s life is crucial to successfully raising a healthy child.
Educating your children about how you contribute to your community is a great way to establish trust, care and love while providing a haven for growth to blossom.
Activities like Career Day for students is a great opportunity for kids to see their parents “under the veil” and in a broader perspective.
WHAT DOES THIS ALL HAVE TO DO WITH ME KNOWING HOW TO GET CLOSER TO GOD?
Likewise God’s children also receive the calling to get closer to God. As newborn family members to the Kingdom of Heaven, we are cordially invited to know God more intimately. In due season and as we take our first steps in our Kingdom, God begins to unveil to us his best work - how he holds the whole world in his hands.
To learn how to get closer to God it is imperative that you understand these 4 essential mysteries of God’s holy family. Let’s learn about and discuss:
Born of Water and Spirit
Nicodemus asked; how can a man be reborn? Seems like a figurative question, but the reality is that many people today, more so than ever before, are confused, misguided and struggle with the true understanding of having an authentic rebirth.
This is because most people relate transformation or being reborn to a change in attitude. What is truly required for a rebirth is a change in perception. So how can a man be reborn? You are born anew in your spirit.
John 3:6-7 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
Abandon the New World - Receive Your Inheritance in Your New Kingdom
Your advocate to the Kingdom is none other than the anointed Son of Man himself – Jesus Cristo. Jesus is your starting point, your best friend, the one who trains you to operate within your new perception. Jesus is our Ambassador to the Kingdom of Heaven, and as family members we are to be his Ambassadors in the new world on earth.
Our new-found perception enhances our earthly perspective. Our improved awareness about our powerful spirit and life must be cultivated and nourished or else be tarnished and ruined in the face of God.
Jesus is our divine mediator of the new covenant between God and man. It is through Jesus Christ that the righteous man receives the promise of salvation our eternal inheritance. Jesus is our savior and is the perfect man whom walked on this earth. Not only was Jesus the sacrificial lamb who shed his blood and paid the price for our salvation, but he showed us how to live in spirit…he showed us how living this life within the vehicles of our bodies is to be done.
1 Corinthians 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.
Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Jonah 2:9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord.
Hosea 13:4 Yet I am the Lord thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no savior beside me.
Establish a Divine Relationship
How do you get to know a friend in a new way? The best way to get to know a friend is to allow them to show you who they are without any preconceived thoughts or judgment. The best way to learn anything is to impartially observe and listen. These are the fundamentals required to improve your overall awareness.
So then why do we insist on judging God? Do you believe that God is an irrational stern God? Is God to you a dictator sitting on a throne ready to condemn us for the slightest of offenses without a chance of redemption? Or is God an unmotivated Father who without opinion is complacent to our choices in life and does not care either way? Does God truly not care to participate in our day-to-day lives? Or perhaps our God is very involved with the Mother Earth he created and is very much concerned with his fruits that are nourished by the stems of her vines?
To discover these answers and more you must learn to see God as hyper dimensional. Open your inner eyes and activate your divine sensory perception in order to view:
- God the Father
- God the Son (Jesus)
- God the Holy Spirit
In order to get closer to God you must know God’s personality and understand the magnitude of his infinite essence. The more you understand God the more intimate your relationship with God will become.
Please watch the short clip below which gives a clever analogy that accurately explains the mystery of the Holy Trinity. Then ask yourself;
Are You a Trinitarian?
Mathew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. A’-men.
Learning to Trust God
A popular exercise that is practiced as a means to manifest the exuberant excitement, sometimes uncomfortable emotion and powerful energy of trust is the Trust Fall game. This activity requires for you to fall backwards into the arms of a partner or team member. This is a great exercise to practice in order to develop the skill of trusting in another.
Make no mistake about it, learning to trust is a skill and art that must be improved and polished by all of us especially in adulthood. Children are much better at it!
In the process of getting closer to God, God requires that we develop an unconditional devotion and commitment towards him and be willing to fall trusting in him.
God also grooms his children with various exercises, struggles that serve in reality as a blessing which allow us to refine our skill of trusting in him. It doesn’t matter how bad the struggle may seem as children of the Most High, we must remember that it’s just an exercise and know that God is unstintedly devoted to his children and will always have our back and catch us when we fall. All Glory Be to GOD!
Romans 5:3-5 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
Embrace Your Gift and Live in the Spirit
Romans 8:9-10 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
The living Spirit of God sustains us while we journey through life with God. The Holy Spirit is our helper and a gift for the children of God. With the baptism of being reborn through the spirit and by accepting Jesus Christ as your savior and Lord, the Father imparts to us his gift of the Holy Spirit.
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Your body is a temple for the Holy Spirit and you should be very mindful of how you disrespect and offend your body. Some may think I speak in retrospect of the body’s appearance, that would be a silly mistake and entirely too simple-minded. Since we are talking about the Holy Spirit who councils and educates on the matters of the Spirit, let’s discuss briefly the true reality of keeping your temple of the body healthy. Let’s recognize the actual wretchedness we so eagerly digest spiritually in retrospect to the body.
Man is so careful to appear healthy in the eyes of the world while seemingly unconcerned to be fit and healthy by God’s standards.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the Kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the Kingdom of God.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

As believers in Christ we are privileged to have the Holy Spirit reside in us, which entitles us to receive blessed advantages. These gifts from God help us to navigate purely and successfully in this sinful world.
The Holy Spirit brings you the message of truth spoken by God and delivers to the children of God wisdom that cannot be humanly taught. Allowing God’s Spirit to reside in you gives you the opportunity to make wise choices that lead to a righteous life. To receive the Holy Spirit is to receive power from God.
When you are filled with the Holy Spirit the enemy will take notice of this, so please expect to experience the wilderness along with the accompanied array of varied temptations. Please remember that this is just an exercise for the children of God. God will have your back and God will keep you while Jesus releases to you his peace. Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness and the language of our sorrow is translated by the Spirit who intercedes for us with groaning unto God. The Lord hears our anguish and pain.
Romans 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

As our spirituality, faith and trust grows for God and we begin to fully embrace living in the Spirit, in order to get closer to God and have the type of meaningful intimacy we are looking to develop with our Father, we must die to the world. Because of the death of our flesh, we no longer are bound by the law but rather live and relish in the way of the spirit.
John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
1 John 5:7-8 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
